Our Vision
To build a thriving, self-reliant and inclusive community where every individual has access to opportunity, dignity and sustainable livelihoods.
Mahonisi Community Development Trust empowers local communities through sustainable development, education, youth & sport, agriculture and strategic partnerships — preserving our heritage while building the future.
To build a thriving, self-reliant and inclusive community where every individual has access to opportunity, dignity and sustainable livelihoods.
To empower local communities through sustainable development, capacity building, education, infrastructure improvement and economic opportunity — preserving our cultural heritage while promoting inclusive growth and social justice for present and future generations.
Inclusion, dignity and sustainability guide everything we do. We grow with our people — rooted in heritage, driven by opportunity, and accountable to the generations who follow.
From classrooms to soccer pitches to farming fields, our programmes are creating tangible opportunities across the district.
We employed a Mathematics educator during the school holidays at George Sonto High School to strengthen academic performance and unlock opportunity for learners.
We host the Bally Manganyi Annual Soccer Tournament and fully support Mahonisi United FC — kit, equipment and logistics — competing in the Collins Chabane LFA.
We have established a farming cooperative — currently pending registration — to promote sustainable agriculture, food security and meaningful job creation.
We are successfully running a community levy system, with members contributing directly towards the Trust's initiatives — development owned by the community itself.
We are formalising a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Venda, opening doors for academic, community-development and research collaboration.

From the windmills that draw water across our plains to the wildlife of our landscapes, our story is bound to this land. We preserve our cultural heritage while building sustainable livelihoods on the soil that raised us.
